AfterVote.ch is an independent observatory of Swiss direct democracy. Its purpose is simple: to let anyone, several years after a vote, return to what was promised during the campaign — and compare it with what actually happened.
Why AfterVote?
Vote campaigns produce a considerable amount of arguments, figures and predictions. Debate concentrates in the weeks before the vote, then attention fades. A few years later, hardly anyone remembers exactly what was said. Sound and flawed arguments disappear together from public debate. AfterVote proposes to keep a record, to sort the arguments by camp, and to give them a factual verdict in the light of the facts observed.
What we are not
We are not an opinion paper, nor a campaign committee, nor a lobbying tool. We do not voice opinions on whether a vote was right or wrong, and we do not campaign for or against any cause.
What we are
A fact-checking site, multilingual (French, German, Italian, English), at the service of Swiss democratic debate. For citizens, journalists, teachers, researchers and elected officials who want to take a step back from past votes.
Independence
AfterVote.ch is published independently, with no affiliation to any political party, movement, administration or interest group.
